저자의 변
고도의 경제 성장과 더불어 생활 수준이 향상됨에 따라 인간에게 있어 생활상의 여러 가지 욕구가 증대되었다. 특히, 건축면에서 건축물의 기능과 양식이 날로 다양해지고 복잡해지면서 첨단화되는 것이 현실이다.
현대 사회는 각종 상품이 브랜드화 되듯 공동주택도 눈부신 변화 속에 해마다 새로운 발전을 거듭하고 있으며, 빠른 속도로 변화하는 과학기술 및 기계문명의 영향을 받아 현대의 공동주택도 디자인 및 시공 방법이 다양화․고도화되어 가는 것뿐만 아니라 입주자들의 요구사항도 변화해가고 있다.
이러한 환경 변화와 공동주택 입주자의 권익 보호, 공동주택의 건물과 제반 설비의 안전을 전문적이고 효과적으로 유지․보수 등의 관리를 위해서 우리나라에서도 1990년부터 주택관리사(보) 자격시험제도를 실시하여 전문 인력을 양성하고 있다.
본서는 최근 출제 경향의 변화에 따라 내용을 개편하였고 수험생들의 자격 취득에 효과적인 학습이 되도록 구성하였다.

자격시험은 결국 자기 자신에 대한 도전이며, 자신과의 싸움인 것이다. 이 싸움을 승리로 이끌기 위해서 본서가 역할을 다하기에는 학문적으로 부족함이 있으나 저자로서 최선을 다하여 자격 취득의 길잡이가 될 수 있도록 노력하고 편저자의 부족한 역량으로 인하여 본의 아닌 오류가 있으면 그 보완에 최선을 기할 것을 다짐하는 바이다.
